Gansey Girl, Bridlington Harbour at Sunrise

It's Saturday market at Bridlington today and prior to setting up our greetings card stall, I took Symphony a walk around the harbour. The sun was just appearing above the horizon so we dashed around to the Gansey Girl, where I managed to capture it with the Gansey Girl in silhouette. A gansey is a pullover used by fishermen and unique to the port they fish from. This unique design also served to identify fishermen who gave up their lives to the sea. The Gansey Girl at Bridlington is the excellent work of sculptor Steve Carvill and has to be one of the best landmarks in East Yorkshire.
